FIRST ®Tech Challenge Indonesia
Way More Than Building Robots
FIRST Tech Challenge teams (2-15 members, ages 12-18) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have!”
FTC Education
Guided by adult Coaches and Mentors, students develop STEAM skills and practice engineering principles (like keeping an engineering notebook), while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas.
The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and can be programmed using a variety of languages, including Java. Teams also must raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach for which they can win awards. Each season concludes with Super-Regional Championships and an exciting FIRST Championship.
Girls in STEAM and FTC
The FIRST Tech Challenge is not centered on boys only, girls can participate too! In fact, the first Indonesia's FTC team participated was girls FTC team, they are Phinisi Voyager #15016 who participated in FIRST Tech Challenge Australia National in 2018 and 2019. Through team work and collaboration they successfully achieved 3 awards in 2 years!
Design, Build, Program, and Compete with Robots!
The FIRST Tech Challenge is centered around hands-on and significant learning within the realms of science, engineering, and technology.
Student teams collaborate to conceive, construct, and program robots, engaging in competitive alliances akin to the dynamics of sports. This initiative imparts valuable lessons about dedication, hard work, entrepreneurship, and creativity to both male and female participants, fostering a sense of enjoyment derived from overcoming challenges through collective efforts.
Within the program, students grasp the significance of teamwork, the exchange of knowledge and ideas, and the essential values of mutual respect and kindness towards their fellow competitors.
